iD Signs recently helped bring together an exciting new exhibition of the work of artist Sonia Payes as part of the PHOTO 2024 exhibition opening in March at the MAPh Gallery in Wheelers Hill.

MAPh Gallery

The Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) is a gallery dedicated to Australian photography and its vital role in culture and society. The sculpture park sits within a landmark site once occupied by an early homestead, it now features beautifully landscaped gardens with stunning views of the Dandenong Ranges.

MAPh Gallery

MAPh, formerly known as MGA (Monash Gallery of Art), established its name more than thirty years ago at a time when the gallery collected and exhibited all types of visual art, including but not limited to paintings and sculpture, and photography. It has become Australia’s leading public art gallery devoted to the collection and exhibition of photography.

iD Signs worked closely with MAPh Gallery Director Anouska Phizacklea to bring together the site-specific exhibition which consisted of Canvas Fabric Tensioned Hanging Banners installed across MAPh’s sculpture park.

In this installation ‘Renaissance: A journey of transformation’ Sonia Payes embraces the sculptural possibilities of the photographic medium. Payes’ interpretation of possible futures examines the impact of human intervention on the planet.

The complexity of Payes’ imagery captures the planet’s ongoing process of transformation, offering poetic insights into humanity’s aspirations for the future of our environment, including those futures already determined.

iD Signs is proud to work with an exciting and important institution like MAPh. It is a key cultural facility and a popular destination for those interested in art and photography from across Melbourne.
